Did you create the Curtain wall "INSIDE" the wall?? in the properties of that curtain wall, did you turn ON the "Embebed wall"??? or you create an "Opening" and now you want to put the curtain wall panel??? be clear....

thanks typhoon - sorry about not being more clear..

that gray thing is a wall.. it is just a piece of wall nine feet high..

it is ten inches thick..

that square hole is the result of clicking on that wall where

there was no square hole and then clicking

"modify wall> edit profile"..

in elevation view the gray shaded wall disapears

and only the magenta colored lines appear as an outline of that

wall.. then in sketch mode i draw a square inside of that wall

profile and click finish and then "bingo" there is a square hole in

the wall..

okay- now i want to put a curtain wall system in that square hole..

i want glass and mullions..

in 2009 i would draw model lines in that hole and select them as

the boundary for cutain wall panels..

please look at my screenshot and if you know- please tell

me exactly what to click on to start a curtain wall in that hole..

many thanks..

WYS1WYG, all the steps in RAC 2009 to create  a curtain system in a hole of a wall are the same in RAC 2010, the difference is the "Create Form" tool. First you sketch the square and then you create the mass form (in 2010 you can "deform" a mass from a basic form as a rectangle, etc), so you can now finish your mass and create you curtain system (see attached)....

no deforming a mass in 2009 just to place

a curtain panel..

the only thing i did in 2009 was choose

curtain wall and then choose by model lines..

even if i just drew two parallel model lines

i could pick them and the curtain panel

would appear between them..

nothing like starting all over learning revit..

and guess how many of those 350,00 architects

who bought revit can use it? 2   lol

could you or anyone else at least tell me

after looking at this screenshot what they

would think would be the first four clicks they

would make toward getting a curtain panel

in that square hole?

What Typhoon is suggesting is that there is a much easier way.  You don't need to make a hole in the wall for the curtain wall.  Just draw the curtain wall in a plan view in the required position over the wall to be cut and ensure that embedded is checked.  The curtain wall will cut its own hole.  Set in the upper and lower boundaries in the properties and the hole automatically adjusts, as it will if you adjust the length.
