Challenge: Generate a (nearly) flat roof structural system using bar joists with the "beam system" command. Problem: Bar joists are always shown horizontal. My roof has a slight pitch - is there a fuction to create a slope to these or designate elevations for each end? Thanks, e

You can rotate the beam system in elevation.

I think that you're trying to rotate a beam and not the beam system. You need to select the beam system.

there is no function to unpin it, however, if I select the beam system like you mentioned (in plan view) and switch to section view, I can rotate the entire system. Thanks! I just thought revit would have had more control for framing points, such as elevations from walls or beams.

You can use that functionality if you use the pick support function when you create the beam system. The sketch lines will snap to supports at different elevations - see 2d and 3d beam systems.

That sounds great, but the bar joists are burried in slots in a bearing wall. Can Revit specify a bearing point within the core of a wall structure?
