Greetings,

I am having trouble figuring out Revits Areal plans. I would like to make a colored floor plan which shows the Occupancy Types (IBC 2006, not owner occupancies) for my mix use building.

for example: Occupancy Type B = Blue, Occupancy Type S2 = Green, Occupancy Type R = Yellow.

i have created a new scheme called Occupancy Areas, created boudries, tagged areas, but can not get the Occupancy Area scheme to show up. it just use the 'Gross Building Area" scheme and colors everything one color.

thanks

j

Are you sure you have created areas and not rooms?  It sounds like you have only one area.

yup...i think i worked it out, but maybe i am still not getting it. this is what i did;

1. project settings; color fill schemes; create a new scheme. but while in the 'edit scheme color' dialog box, 'scheme definition' - color "BY NUMBER".

Then for my Occupancy types i just have to use the number 1 for Type B, 2 for Type A2, etc. i dont know if this is the best solution, but it seems to work.

the last detail to work out is printing...if i dont want to print in color, than i need to change the "colors" in the color scheme to pattern types. i am thinking that maybe it will not be too much more to just print the code page in color, if i can do this without everything else going crazy (which i doubt) we may be on to something....

any ideas greatly appreciated

thanks

j
