hi, It seems that when i do a night render that the lights are infact working and giving off light. However when you look at the fixture itself there is no light on it itself which looks very strange. its working for my over large lights but not smaller ones. Cheers.

Look at the material definitions that each family uses for its lens and you should discover the difference yourself under render appearance. Self-Illumination.... change that in the lights that don't show.

You cannot see the actual light in Revit - only the surfaces that it shines onto. The light therefore needs to illuminate part of the fixture to be seen, such as the glass lens suggested by WWHub, or the sides of the luminaire if there is no glass.
