Firstly let me just say thanks for all the help I've been getting so far from this forum. Greatly appreciated!! OK, My project is slowly coming together but I've run into a problem with getting some detailing around my arched opening in my building. I want to create a brick soldier course which runs around the arch over the door but I have absolutely no clue how to do this. Please can somebody explain how I can do this. I have attached an image for you to look at. Best Regards Kirk

First I think you will need a new brick colored material that matches your brick color but doesn't have any joints. Next, I would create a simple, single brick family that you can apply the material to and array arond your opening. You could do this as an inplace family ... but then you wouldn't have anythging for the future.

Thank you for that reply, however, I might be jumping to quickly as I am not even up to working with families yet!! I was hoping there was a more simpler way of doing it without getting too technical too soon. I know exactly what I want and have a million ideas but just can't seem to do it using Revit yet. I've tried going through the tutorials but I actually find this forum much more useful and it has served me well so far. How do I create this single brick family and how do I get it to 'array' around the opening? I know this will appear obvious to many Revit users but I am very much a beginner with BIM. A master builder in the real world but a novice when trying to use this fantastic but challenging software. Kirk

I know this is an old thread, but I'm also new to Revit also and have the same question. I tried to go to this video, but I don't think it exists any longer. Do you know of any other videos that discribe a solution to this?

There is a family here: http://essentialbim.com/product/brick-arch/ that works Very well.
The Calculations allow it to flex so you can easily align it to your window/door, there are parameters for brick height, depth, number of bricks, arch radius, height from window to bottom of Arch etc. as well as material parameters to change the brick colour and the mortar.
