Hi. I am trying to create floor patterns using design options. For some reason, when I try to assign the solid filled region into a particular design option, I get a warning message saying that "some types of elements can;t belong to an Option Set". What am I doing wrong? I need to create different patterns with different colors under different options. How can I do this? I am using Revit 2009. Thanks for the help in advance.

Do it in the floor itself. Create different materials for the floor regions that you require including colour and patterns. Copy the floor into the design option and split the face and assign the different materials with the paint bucket tool.

Design options are for model based elements. Filled regions are view based. Create a view for DO one and add your fill - create another view for DO2 and add the fill to that one. If you want true model based options, you will need a floor in each option with the appropriate floor finish.
