Instead of being able to override dimensions (as in Acad), how about a text label that acts as a dimension, but is separate from the dimensioning system. Text already has the ability to attach leaders, but it would be very handy to be able to attach a dimension line. You could use this if you wanted to indicate the extents of an existing building for example, perhaps on a demolition plan where dimensions may be irrelavent etc, etc, etc. If a psuedo dimension line was included as a text label option (right next to the leader line buttons when placing text), nothing to do with dimensioning, then all you ultra acurate bozo's out there wouldn't have to worry about anyone changing dimension values because it's just a label !!!

Revit Structure: I agree, we tend to use text in dimension strings a lot to indicate extents of reinforcing for wall reinforcing or slab reinforcing. It is just another method of annotation which can be used effectivly on plans and/or details.

I have found a leader in a family, I would think that a dim with text could be created in a similar way. I will try to create one.
