  • lets say you have a wall curving in plan
  •  place a reference plane in front of the curve where you want your opening
  •  click on the plane and under element properties - name it
  • now create an elevation that is perpindicular to that plane - so that you are looking at the face
  • create an in-place family - type wall
  • you want to do a void extrusion
  • set the work plane to the named plane
  • sketch your shape  (NOTE - This extrusion will be perpindicular to the plane.)
  • set theextrusion depth
  • before finishing the family - under tool click cut geometry
  • coose your wall and then your void shape.

If you need the cut shape to be perpendicular to the wall in the case where the radius is samll compared to the opening, you can use a blend using the same shape at two different sizes (draw the first shape, copy it to clipboard, and paste it when you edit the top and resize it). Use reference planes that start at the origin of the cureve.

sagakagathara,

You asked "What's wrong with editing the profile?" ... That's a good question.  Please let us know your results.

Goofed!

It's a curved wall...

I needed to give it a second thought!
