Render Plus has released its new integrated renderer for Revit - AccuRender nXt for Revit. This is operating with Revit 2009 and Revit 2010 for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This is a new version of the AccuRender rendering engine which used to be included in Revit, prior to Revit 2009. See: nXt for Revit and see the nXt for Revit Forum. You may place questions and comments on the nXt for Revit Forum, or here on Revit City

How does this compare with the Mentalray render engine that comes with the current version of Revit? It will have to be quite convincing to splash out $200.

I have placed this enquiry on the AccuRender nXt for Revit forum.

 http://nxt.accurender.com/forums/p/2029/8758.aspx#8758

And, the real price of the software is $449.00. $199.00 is just the price for the first month or so.

We think:

1. nXt makes better renderings

2. nXt is faster.

3. nXt runs as a separate process so you can continue with Revit

4. nXt has better support, and a development team which is willing to make changes to make it work better.

I will be interested in what others have to say.

There is a 30-day free trial if you want to try it and decide for yourself.

I've just installed the 30 day free trial but I can't for the life of me find tutorials or help. It is pretty straight forward, but it only works in the 3D view, not in camera view. When I create a camera view and go to Add-Ins (Revit Architecture 2010) and click on external tools, nxt is grayed out and I can't choose it. However it is available when I'm in the native 3D view. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I wanted to render a camera view.

 Thanks!

I'm sorry that this has been a problem.

There is  video tutorial at:

http://www.renderplus.com/wk/AccuRender_nXt_Simple_Rendering_w.htm

There is a help system at:

http://www.renderplus.com/wk/Table_of_Contents_-_AccuRender_nXt_for_Revit_w.htm

See the Getting Started Section:

  • Open Revit and load a model. An additional menu item, Add-Ins should appear.
  • Make sure you are not in a Camera or Perspective View. (You can switch back after loading the add-in.)
  • Select Add-Ins, and the Add-Ins Ribbon should appear, with the External Tools button.
  • Select nXt From the External Tools drop-down list, and the Control Panel should appear.
  •
