I'm pretty new, so forgive my ignorance, here - but what the (heck) is the "Wall Function" parameter for? I've tried setting up my own families for concrete retaining walls & "exterior" concrete walls, in the hopes that I can somehow use filters to do something useful with these designations... but I can't figure out how to filter by "Wall Function". It seems to be a pretty useless parameter... Am I missing something? Am I using it totally wrong?

Per the H E L P: Wall Function Sets a wall to exterior, interior, retaining, foundation, or soffit. Before creating the wall, you can click , and you see the default instance values for wall function. See Adding Interior and Exterior Walls and Adding Retaining Walls. The value should be set to Soffit when the wall is attached to a ceiling. In this case, the attachment is made to the surface of the ceiling, regardless of the shape of the ceiling.

Thank you, robot. I'm wondering what might happen if I set the value to "Interior" on the wall type that I use for retaining walls... What difference would it make? What is the benefit of using the "Wall Function" parameter?

Does anyone Know How to use the Function Parameter in a schedule? I need to identify Exterior Walls in a room and its Area for Energy Load Calculations.

Walls are not associated with rooms.
