Is there a proper way to create/draw a mechanical detail, or would I just draw what I need off to the side of a floor plan and make sure that it shows up on the sheet?

This is not CAD

View - drafting view.... now draw what you want and place this drafting view on your sheet.

Whoa....... easy there buddy. I didn't mean to insult your beloved product. I am quite aware that this is not cad, if it were then this job would have been done last month. That why I am asking the proper way to acomplish this in revit.

No offense was taken - just telling you to stop thinking like cad and I gave you the way to do this.

I'm sorry, as I'm sure most of you would understand, working in this industry will sometimes put you in a bad mood. I just finished working a 70+ hour week and was in a pretty bad mood yesterday, and I just took the comment telling me that this isn't cad the wrong way. I appoligize. I have had a good sleep and am better now. This program is indeed frustrating at times. I know it is a better overall product that cad, but when you are still in the learning process, it is easy to loose sight of that when something is taking a long time in comparison to cad. Hopefully I didn't create any "bad blood" on this site as it is very useful for the learning process.

Yeah Revit7777, I know what you mean, i started working in CAD since 1989/90 and in the begining it was very frustrating for me in some aspects, working in 2D in Revit, because in CAD we can do "Some details" in few minutes and in Revit (in the begining) some "Hour/(s)", but with experience, you are improve your skill and the frustracion gonna disapear... If you need, i'm sure WWHub and the others gonna help you in the next time... Welcome to Revit World...
