Things keep going missing in our model! Over the last two weeks we have had 5 ceilings, and 15 windows vanish. Nobody on our 6 person team has a clue how it keeps happening and we are all careful users. In some instances the things that are getting deleted are far from a part of the building that people are even working on. To solve it, are starting to take ownership over worksets. I am just wondering if anyone has had similar issues. Could this be a virus?

Things dont just delete with in revit, someone has to be doing it without knowing. Try running an audit on the file to see if anything comes up.

One culprit can be someone using the select all instances then deleting. SAI does so accross all views. Also selecting with a window then deleting is very dangerous. Do a test: window select and then use the filter and depending upon the view you may be surprised what you selected. Just some ideas. good luck

Thanks for the replies. As a team we sat down and gave a reminder about how to select items properly to avoid deleting things by mistake. We put emphasis on using the filter, and tabbing to select individual items. Then the day after this discussion, in a time frame of 2 hours all our windows on a facade get deleted on the 2nd and 3rd floors and nobody knows why. The culprit couldn't have used 'select all instances' command because they would have deleted the same window that appears on other elevations as well. It is just not adding up. For the hell of it I opened a detached copy of the file and tried to see how hard it would be to delete the windows by moving walls, changing thicknesses and being careless with seletion windows - just in case there was a constraint somewhere. It was very hard to actually delete the windows in question! I am going to run an audit at the end of the day today, but otherwise we are each taking ownership of major parts of the model.

I agree with earlier post, somone or ones are deleting things they think are related to anything. Run the audit and catch the infidels!

Dasher, are you suggesting I can use the audit to 'catch' people who are accidently deleting things from the model? How do I do this? I just opened the file and checked audit. Thanks

Try this: You can also check their history and the backup files to see when things were deleted in time. It requires a little work but you can also check their undo and redo work it it goes back far enough.
