G'day everyone. I'm struggling finding an appropriate way to model a netting surface in Revit Architecture 2009. The one shown in the images was created as a topography with minimal thickness in archicad - and imported at a mass via autoCAD then each face converted to a wall in the massing tools in Revit - but this seems like an overly complicated work-flow. If I have four or five known points which do not lie in the same plane, is there some tool in revit which can create a surface that links them? Could anyone suggest an alternative way of (re)modelling sch a surface? I'm finding revit pretty limted and it's hard to sell it as the platform of the future to my employers when I have to use archicad, sketchup or even autoCAD to do what should be pretty simple operations. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Cheers, Pete

Hi Pete. Sorry to say, I don't think Revit can form such surfaces. I'm not too familiar with Revit 2010 but maybe they've added the tools you need. I do know that 3ds max can easily make the surface you're looking for though. Revit and 3ds max have a better relationship than the one you've described. Hope you figure something out, good luck.

You have two options that you could try. The first one would be to create a mass and use voids to create that different edges and slopes on it, then you could add a face to the mass the represents the screen.( setting the correct transparency and surface pattern.) The second option is that you could just create a site and make that transparent. This way might be a little harder and wont be 100% correct but it would be easier to add topo points to make the odd shape. Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks very much for your ideas guys. I'll try and get into modelling it in 3DStudio Max or give it a go making it as pieces of topography. The massing tool will be too complicated I reckon.
