What is the difference here?

I created a slab and now what is the pad tool do?

SLAB: A section of solid concrete pavement, roof, or floor. Slabs can be used as a combined floor and foundation system.

PAD: You can add a building pad to a toposurface only. It is recommended that you create the building pad within a site plan. However, you can add a building pad to a toposurface in a floor plan view. The pad may not be immediately visible in the floor plan view if the view range or building pad offset are not adjusted appropriately.(see image)

Thanks. I just visited Typhoon video on the pad and he mentioned about not necessary to create a pad thickness when there is already aldb

slab ....and i am understanding from all sources including yours is the pad is used to cut toposurface and therefore thickness is not necessa

necessary...i figuring it out right now and see how far i can get to understand this. thanks again.
