I am trying to draw things in elevation views, which up till now has been workign just fine, but all of a sudden my lines and masses are being drawn along some weird axis in the foreground. Is there a way to "reset" the axis or something? My building is rectangular, so I don't know where this odd axis came from.

It sounds like you are using model lines. Be careful! Model lines, found under the basics or modeling tab, are 3 dimensional and they have to be placed on a plane. This plane is defaulted to the floor level on plan views but it can be setseperately. In all other views, you must set the plane. Detail lines, found under the drafting tab, are 2 dimensional and will only show in the view they were created in.

In this instance I was actually tryign to draw a mass on the face of a building. I had drawn several earlier today, but I don't know what I did that is making the ones I'm doing now draw on the funky axis.

Just like 3d lines, masses are 3d elements and they are created from a plane of reference. You need to set the plane you are working from when you create a mass element.

Okay. I'm just so confused why things won't draw on the rectangular face of my building. I didn't do anything to change the reference plane of my drawing.

Levels and grids are reference planes. You could use one of those if close enough. If not, go to a plan and from your basics tab, click on reference plane. Draw one along the face of your building ... let it extend out beyond it. Click on the plane then right click and get to the element properties of the plane. Give it a name like .... south side.... Now you can go to your south elevation and you can set your working plane to south side... Good luck

I tried drawing a mass and selected Set Work Plane, then chose the face of my building. I noticed that the default work plane for the south elevations was changed to be hosted by the one cylindrical object in my building. Not sure how to change it back, but thanks for the help.
