I have a need to move a finished building model around its site due to client changes and other stuff but everytime i select the ground floor to move it i get hit with loads of error warnings about geometry becoming disjoined and rooms merging into each other. Its a single storey building but i have levels for the flat and pitched roofs aswell. I've tried grouping the whole building but the same problems occur. anyone got any thoughts as this really would be a nightmare if i have to rebuild the model. thanks simon

Can you not move the site instead?

You can move the site beneath the building and then relocate the project to the correct position again using the 'Relocate this project function'.

you can also set the building up as a separate linked revit file. then you can move it without problem.

I really like keeping my site in a seperate model. Then if I want to add plantings and entourage for rendering, it does not take up working memory space because I will only load the link when I need to. Be careful with this approach because linked models will not tag or keynote in the main model.

Interesting, I made a file with all the objects, groups, grids, and levels.
Deleted the same except levels and purged the file of groups.
Linked the saved file origin to origin and moved the link to the corrected location (a small rotation less that 1 deg. and a small xy move to place it in relation to known property lines.
I pined the link and have dimensions locating grids. During the bind Revit deleted the dimensions and proceeded with the bind, I did not include the levels which worked as expected, in the end the link moved to the original position negating the process.
I gave up and we are living with the rotation discrepancy.
Any thoughts why this didn’t work?

You have not told in what context this file is used. Is it linked into anothr file and that needs to be rotated? There is a far easier process than what you used. Watch this video.
