when i place a system wall and pick "Basic Wall : Exterior - Brick

and CMU on MTl. Stud" and then look at its element properties-

and type properties and edit assembly- nowhere do i see the cap

on the wall or the sweeps or the lower stacked bricks..

where is all that stuff?  RAC 2009

You have something wrong here.  A basic wall does not have sweeps as originally defined.  You can add them if you want to.  A basic wall is not a stacked wall.  Stacked walls are made up of at least two basic walls.

When you edit the wall structure, you assign materials to the wall components and you can use the preview to look at the wall in plan or section.  The bottom bortion of the edit GUI is where you can assign sweeps and split or modify regions.

You need to spend some time in your H E L P

"A basic wall does not have sweeps"

start a new project and hit the wall tool and

in the wall types drop down select  "Basic Wall : Exterior- Brick and CMU on MTl. Stud"

and you might see those things already on the wall with your very own eyes..

let me know what you see..

Go to the wall properties,

Turn on the Preview, then switch the preview to section mode.  There you can see how the compound wall is setup.
