Id like to apply a toggle/drop down or possibly even a lookup table to a piece of mechanical equipment:

I would like to give the user a set of voltage choices based on what the equipment is available in - 120;270;480 and not allow them to use a voltage that is not available, this also applies to many other mechanical parameters, voltage is just being used as an example.

Why not just do this with type catalogs.

by type catalog are you refering to a family type? If so, Id like my terminal boxes (and other mech equip) family types based on the unit size not the voltage, and allow the electrical department to choose from the voltages that the equipment is available in later when they are circuiting and balancing loads.

 If I have a type catalog is something other than the above, could you expand on what it is exactly?

This is awesome!!!! The whole department is a buzz! We will be revising many of our existing families, and the world of revit has gotten a little friendlier Smile
