I am running PME suite, and I am modifying the location of default file locations. I want to know if changing the locations will create issues later on when upgrading to new releases or adding new service packs. Basically, I moved the locations of the default templates, libraries, lookup tables, etc so that changes made to them will be reflected on all workstations, rather than each workstation needed to be updated. Currently, these files were located under each workstation at "C:\documents and settings\all users\ . . . " I moved them to a common location on our server so all machines can access the same files. If I created a new family or modified an existing family on one machine, it would need to be copied to all other machines. Just trying to avoid that. My concern is that future updates may fail, or the program may be unstable by making changes. Comments on this are most welcome.

There shouldn't be a problem with this. We definitely keep our library of famiies on a central server as opposed on the individual machines. You just need to make sure when you roll out new versions of the software that you create a deployment that has the server locations set for templates, libraries, etc.
