I fully detailed a 1 1/2" construction section in revit, and now need a 1/4" version with 1 1/2" callouts. I had thought that in an older version of revit that i once used that if you detailed the whole section you could just 'duplicate view with detailing' and then change its scale, but every time i do that i get an error message, and the all the drafting details do not appear in the new view! does anyone know how i could resolve this issue? i am running revit 8 . i also tried calling out from the existing completed section, but the callouts appear without detailing.
suggestions anyone???

For the callouts you need to set them to appear in all views as opposed to just the parent view. This wall allow them to show in your duplicated view...
If the detailing isn't coming, simply select it all in view copy to clipboard and paste aligned into the appropriate callout.

thank you for the help. i was able to copy the detailing into each individual callout, but i was thinking there must be a more efficient way of calling out pieces of construction sections? i thought the best way to go about the whole thing was to do a complete construction section of the entire building, and them the callouts would come through with all their parents details. does anyone know if this is possible in revit?

Our typical way of dealing with details is as you suggested.
We cut a a building section, then might callout to a wall section, then callout to head/sill detail etc...
It all depends on what you've actually modelled as to how much detailing you'll need to add to each view.
If you still can't get the callouts to show up in the view you want, you can force a link with revit. For instance in your building section that isn't showing your callouts, click callout and then tick the reference other view button at the top of the screen. Pick the view you wish it to reference then simply draw the callout in the view....
That said though if the view is actually the true parent of the callout then they should be showing anyways.
HTH.
