I have a modular building, so in the footing layout the foundation piers are shown with a solid line. It also shows the structural baseframe steelwork with a greyed line (would like a solid black line.) also the floor is shown to give an extent of the building. This is shown as a hidden - dashed line - grey. Due to the greyed lines not being all that clear in the final print, I would like all these greyed lines to be shown as black lines. I have spent time looking at the View Templates and fiddled around with all sorts of things but can not seem to get these lines to go black. Many thanks if some one can shed some light on this. Using Revit 2009

The lines may be defined in your linetype settings (I'm not sure how you are displaying them - are they all in the same plan. If theyre overhead lines or beyond lines you can change their display in the linetype settings.

Thanks for the input. I have tried all the line types, weights etc, but to no avail. There seems to be some other preset somewhere for what is in the foreground and greys it accordingly. Not a big problem - I just simply put a rectangle with dashed line over the top and it looks much better.

There are several ways to control linework based on a Revit hierarchy. - FAMILY LEVEL - Lines representing 3D elements are established by family category.
- FAMILY LEVEL - Family symbollic lines are assigned by the builder and are sub-categories for the family category. You can add new sub-category linetypes in the family editor.
- PROJECT LEVEL - ALL linework is controlled initially via Settings/Object styles. Any new sub-category linetypes not in the project are set per family settings. These can then be modified via Settings/Object Styles. All other family settings are over-ridden at the project level by pre-established settings.
- VIEW SPECIFIC - All linetype can be modified at the view level through VG. This can be furthur controlled via view templates but only if the template is applied.
- ELEMENT SPECIFIC - All linetypes can be modified on an element basis by right-clicking on them and over-riding graphics in view.
- VIEW SPECIFIC - In addition to the above, lines created from 3D elements can be modified using the linework tool.
These are powerful tools - if you learn to use them, it will reward you many times over...

Thanks WWHub, I'll look through this carefully and see how it goes. Will post back after I look at my job in question. Much appreciated.
