I do a lot of work which require curved beams. I can get beams to curve in plan view, but am looking to know how to curve a beam in sectional/elevation view like the one attached. The image attached is a section of a canopy drawn in AutoCAD, and I need to put it into Revit Architecture 2009 to show it in a 3D view. You don't need to draw the exact thing, just show or tell me how to get that curve happening (I think it may require me to draw two different beams and then connect them together) and I should be able to figure out the rest! Cheers!

You can draw the beam as a sweep. You can load the profile of the the structural beam from the library and draw the sweep profile in elevation or section.

I understand that is what I have to do, but Revit won't allow me to draw anything in elevation view which will help in creating the curved beam. It all has to be done on a floor plan view which is ok, but I don't want the curve to go from left to right, I want it to go up and down. So, how would I create this curve??

vdmmarc, Okay, first you have to get to the level that you want and start by creating a reference plane. be sure to pick the line and name it in the elements properties box. Now draw a section cut that will look at the ref plane. Go into the section cut and draw an arc using the start-end-radius arc. Pick the two end points and then manually type in the radius, if you just pick something that is close and then try to adjust it, it will move the whole line. With the line now drawn you can pick the beam that you want to place in the drawing. Choose the pick a name work plane then pick okay. Now select the line that you have drawn and the beam will come in. If you want this line to be the middle, top or bottom of the beam you can change it in the beam properties (look under z-direction justification). Now you have your beam drawn like you want it.
