I think I am missing something really simple here...

If I add a boring single door to my model but later find that it would be nice if I could modify the door on a one-off basis how would I achieve that?

For example... I place a standard door in a wall.  The door comes from a standard family.  But later I decide that I want to change this door to have say a glazed panel in the middle.  I would obviously like the panel to be part of the door.

How do I take this existing door and create an in-place family of my own door variant?

Thanks in advance

SD

My advise? Open that door, save with other name to preserve that family then create the panel in glass like you want, now you have two families, one without the glass panel and other with glass panel, when you need just load the door you want...
