I am trying to import an AutoCAD background into Revit and I keep getting a pop up that says "can't import file".  I have tried various things.  I am wondering what else I may try in order to get the file into Revit if possible.  Please help.

You've got to love the helpful error msgs that Revit gives you.

Are you on the latest service pack for Revit?

What version of ACAD?

Usually it's a issue with the CAD file and not Revit.

Did you audit the CAD file, clean it up, wblock it...typical things to do to help.

You might also check the scale list and clean it up...that might be the first thing I look at actually.

I tried making a Wblock, I tried making a new file, and I've tried scaling.  We are using AutoCAD 2009 and Revit Architecture 2009.  Any other ideas.

Clean out the scale list.

There is a utility from the factory out there to do this automatically...or you can do it manually I suppose.

Other than that I'm not sure. Most of the import issues were taken care of so I'm not really sure what it could be.

Is the problem solved yet? If not , this might be a simple clue. But it's not that you are in the drawing in ACAD when you try to import it into Revit? This may cause problems as well.

Are you trying to Import from Paperspace or Model space?

Use model space
