For some strange reason my families are not overwriting. For instance I have a column if I change something in it and try to reload it, it will not change the previous families in the project although I tell it to overwrite the exisiting families. If I resave the family with a new name, then I can use that modified family. But exisiting components will not change appearence. I need to delete the family and put the new one. Any suggestions?

When geometry has a parameter attached to it say a dimension or a material, it becomes a property of the component it project space. If you adjust this parameter while editing it in the family, adjusting width in family types and reload it it stays as it was in the project. But if you select the dimension and add a NEW parameter naming it something slightly different and giving it say the same formula as the old one so that it performs the same and for materials adding a new parameter and also adding a new material. When reloading it all will instances change in the project. Renaming the parameter isn't enough to make the changes either. The project just reads it as a name change.
