so i imported a cad dwg file into the plan view and started tracing.. all was fine until i realized i can not cut and paste between views. is this right? seems like something that would be pretty useful for those that do not do all 3d families. or is there another way to transfer linework from the plan to an elevation view? any help would be appreciated. thanks. j.

Annotation lines (drafting) ar only 2d and view specific. You can add reference planes which will show in both views or in your case, you can re-import your cad file into each view.
