Is there a way to make a family that is a curved receptionist desk that will fit in between 2 walls that in one project may be 4'-0" apart and in another could be 9'-0"? I believe that you have to use parameters and reference lines and such but I can not figure out how to do it.

Could someone show  me or explain to me how to do a basic curved wall that would be like 4'-0" high that changes lenth in between two walls? I think it could be done, if so, that would be great!!

Build this family with a center reference / orgin and a reference plane on either side - call them left and right.  Set a dimension between L/R and assign an instance label to this.  dimension between all three references and make this equal.  Now build you counter with the radius locked to the center and the ends locked lo each plane.

I did most of that. When you said to lock the redius to the center... I can't figure out how to do that. I have tried a few different things and none of them worked. I tested it by placing 1 set of walls 4' from each other and another set 12' from each other. I thought that when I inserted the component, it would make me pick 2 walls to host it or constrain it to or something but it just pulls in a regular size that I have to stretch. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks again.

-Mike

That is correct... you will have to stretch it in place since you used instance parameters.  if you used type base, you could create a type and set the size based on what you measure in plan.   You can not have something constrained to two walls as you wish.

I really appreciate the help. I got it as good as I could. I wanted to be able to pick 2 walls and it place the desk between the 2 but it's cool. Maybe they will add that feature in 2010!

Thanks,

-Mike

PS: I am probably gonna upload a desk soon!
