I just want to insert a door or window opening in my test project but I repeatedly recieve this error message; Error (must be addressed in order to continue Instance of 36"x84" not cutting anything I get this regardless of the size of the opening. I also can not insert vertically. I am new to revit and am learning how to represent my firms drawings so any help would be much appreciated.

Put a picture of your model up, do you actually have walls? Are the walls tall enough for them to be cut? Have you established levels more info is needed this is really basic.

I suggest you start with the tutorials that come with REVIT.

Hi, The error just means that the door is not set to the right height for it to intersect the wall or like the others were saying the wall is to short, (but in most cases the door will insert into a half wall) make sure in the properties when inserting the door that it is set to the level you want. Hope this helps : )

I think that the problem is I am in structural views trying to insert architectural information. All I need is to represent the openings in the walls. I have all levels set up and 10' walls. Pic is attached.

It looks to me as though what you have is a AutoCad Drawing not a Revit, You must create all the walls in Revit first. show 3D view, better to read the User's Guide, before jumping in to hard.

No, I have walls, 3d view, elevations, grids and a linked autoCAD view used as a template. I figured out what I was doing wrong.
