OK. import symbols are the symbols made when you import a dwg file into a particular view. I've discovered that I have tons of these import symbols because they show up on the "visibility override" list of any given view. The problem is you need to know what view you plopped these import symbols on to be able to delete them, and I have no idea what view they are in. Is there an easy way to find out where all the import symbols are and then delete them?

From what i've discovered there is no way of doing it...
You need to find it in a view then choose select all instances of the DWG and delete.
This will ensure that if the dwg is placed in multiple views you remove them all...

This is why we keep any actual import of AutoCAD stuff into Revit to a minimum. We generally link things in and then only to current view. The links are easier to manage and using the link manager they can be deleted if required.

I totally agree with Tom. Keep the links down to a minimum, but it appears that the REVIT developers don't actually ever brainstorm any scenario planning for themselves to solve problems. Let's say I start working on a drawing that someone already started. That person didn't know what he or she was doing and added several imports symbols to single views. Then that person quits, and it was up to me to go through each and every of the 300 views in the project to select all and delete to get rid of unwanted import symbols.
There is a whole science and art to scenario planning where a company will often times say: " how is a knowlege chain affected if one of the team members suddenly dies?" Personally, I don't think REVIT has someone who does this essential function in-house, but uses us, the paying customers, exclusively to figure out all these problems. Sorry. I guess I was looking for a quick fix.
Here's what I really hoped someone would say: that the category "import symbols" was on the project browser, and I could simply select an import symbol there. I was hoping I missed this selection option somewhere.

I am having issues with import symbols right now as well. I did as was suggested and found an instance, selected all instances but I am still getting the same error message pop up. Does anyone know more about this issue? Revit 2008
