Using Revit 8.0. We have a legend done with window elevations and we would like to tag some head, jamb, and sill details on these window elevations. We already have the details drawn in drafting views and all we need are section marks that reference these details. Apparently, we cannot insert intelligent section tags in a legend view (why not is completely beyond comprehension). The only work around we have found is creating our own UN-intelligent tags that will need to be manually updated when anything changes. Does anyone else have any better suggestions?

Hmm that is a dilemma...
Haven't come across that before, bit in reality legend views to do not represent any Actual situation in particular all they show is the family and the views are merely 2D representations.
Two options i would consider would be use the plan view legend components to detail jambs etc.
OR What we used to do (prior to legends) to create actual elevations and sections of the windows and doors in the model. Which is probably more correct as i'd imagine your jambs may differ depending on the host wall type... which isn't reflected in a legend component...
HTH.

Your second option is exactly what we used to do before legends, but legends seemed to be just the ticket for what we desired to create. We typically use schedules for doors, but tag windows in plan by type. Ideally, it would be nice to insert a section tag in the legend view that would reference the detail view we already have drawn. That way, just like in regular views where you can insert section tags, the tag would be intelligent and number itself once the detail view was placed on a sheet. Maybe this is one for the wishlist...

Agreed. add to the wishlist.
Maybe if we could only reference to drafting views in a legend view that would prevent any confusion...??
Factory?

I too am trying to get a view reference detail on our door frame legend. Not sure why Revit 2017 can't do this when this was an issue 12 years ago!!!
Anyone have any work arounds since? We used to use the future scheduling phase to have elevations of our door types, however now we use legends and this issue has come up.
Thanks,
Lorne
