Both of the floors shown are the same type The one on the left is straight, the one on the right has a slight slope. Is that what is causing the cut patterns to not display? Any help is welcome

No, Like you can see in the image attached, there are two slabs, one straight and other sloped, this is not the problem at all, are you sure the slabs are the same Type an family???? even if i change the Override Graphics in View by Element and turn off the visible in Cut pattern i still with the separation line in the layer, in your image we can't see that, so I ask again, the slabs are the same Type an family????

Yes they are both the same Family type. I have my graphics set to fine so that is not it. The floors are the same family the only different is the one on the right has a -1" offset, so my trench drains would cut and be in the right place. Try graphic overrides and they didn't work even moved the the section cut slightly and that made no difference. I know i can make it look right with filled regions but it would be nice to not have to do that.

Ok, Here's a couple things to check. Make sure in the override graphics in view the visible box is checked for the cut pattern. If you look at Typhoon's post he has the box unchecked. That is for the slab on the right without the pattern. Or Maybe someone put a masking region over your slab for some reason. good luck. John

Visible is checked. and no one has put a masking region on it cause i am the only one working on this project right now. It has something to do with the trench drains cutting the floor. This is for a carwash so the trench drains are important. If i move the section to a place where it does not cut through the drains the floor displays properly. and this happens throughout the project in all setions.

ok had to strip out everything to get it small enough. It has to be something to do with the trench drains. Project is one the back burner for now but this is driving me nuts.

wheelergc, Here's what i found out. It's the cut extrusion in the trench drain family that is doing it. If you delete the cut extrusion and load into project it takes care of the fill pattern issue. but now of course you have "concrete" in your drain. So we're part of the way......Typhoon - What can be done??? I placed the original drain in a 12" conc slab no other elements and still had to override graphics in view to show the fill pattern but you would want concrete under the drain no matter what from a structural point of view John Edited on: Fri, Feb 13, 2009 at 7:08:08 AM

I think this problem may be occuring because the trench drain is right at the floor break line. What happens if you move it just a bit to the flat side?

I made the flat area of the floor bigger and even moved the drain around some more. Still the same results. I guess i will just use filled regions to get the floors displayed right in the detail drawings and just go to a solid fill in the sections. Thanks for trying

I think the problem isn't in the Drain object because like you can see in the image i create a new slab, put the same family in there and create section view like you can see and it's ok.....

Well i don't know why but when i go to the smaller drains the slab displays right so it is something with the way the slab is being cut by the drain. If i go to the smaller drain the floor displays right the bigger drains take away the fill pattern so it must be something to do with the thickness of the slab. Thanks for all the help in figuring out this problem
