Hi all, i have just completed a couple of attempts at my first render which will go to my client. I would really appreciate any help and tips on things i could change to get a better image. the main thing is the person, my client wants me to show a chef in the scene all i can get so far is this terrible crash test dummy, do i have a chance of getting a chef figure that looks like it fits in? Also, the rangehood extract has been giving me trouble, i want it to be a nice stainless steel finish but i have assigned all different metal types to it (currently chrome) but it will not give me a reflective finish. the posts supporting the glazing below are chrome and they shine so i cant understand why the rangehood wont, (it was created using solids in a family) anyway, ill try and attach these images and hopefully you pro's can offer me some advice on how to improve it. also the file size comes out so small, i render to screen then export, is that not the best way to do it?

Hi dnicholson, in order to get a more professional finish to your presentation, there are some things that come to my mind and hope could help you. First, about the human figure, if you can't get definitly the chef you want to add in Revit (RPC or 3d people), you could add a picture of a chef in Photoshop ( I think it could help to get a more realistic look than the one you have right now). Also I would add some walls, windows, etc, and a ceiling (with lighting fixtures) to get the real environment that will have your project, (at least aprox.). This could help to get the reflective finish that you want in your rangehood extract (the one you have right now has nothing to reflect but the posts seem to be reflecting it). And finally you should try to render your image not to screen but to printer resolution (300 DPI), in medium or high quality (is up to you). These are some simple suggestions knowing that this is your first rendering and don't know the level you have with Revit, so good luck with your client and hope this could help you...........

please note that Im no Mr Spot or HJacobs, but i've found if you're looking for a more realistic image - you need to try and imagine yourself in that room and what else would be going on.. like erland 73 said - add entourage to the suroundings and background.. and here's my best tip - make sure your camera view is true - don't distort the angles, ensure your eye level is true to the levels of the project and if part of the kitchen falls outside of your view then produce another view to catch that part.. in my opinion you are better to render several detail images than one large image of everything.. but then your materials need to be good to do that! lets see your next renders because your first 2 look like a great start - well done.

I have a similar problem; my RPC figures come in nearly all grey; there is no color to them. John

Hi josta, are you sure you are using the correct RPC files for the version of Revit that you have?
