Is there a way when you export to a dwf file from Revit 2009 Architecture with the 2d CAD info such as grid line and gird bubbles? The grid line file is currently linked to the Revit file. But after export it to dwf, it dissappears, is there a way to make it show up? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant 3d dwf, not 2d dwf. I was hoping the grid will be imported in the 3d dwf file, is that doable? Thanks.

Like you must already check, if you put the grid lines ONLY appears in Plan views and Elevation views perpendicular to that view, don't appear in 3D view, so you CAN'T create a 3D View with grid lines, even thought, if you try to create a 3D DWF, Revit tells you "3D DWF Files Only Export from 3D View"...

I think it would be cool when you orbit the 3d model around and still can see grid line as a reference in 3d.

Lines are lines .... obvious they will not show as 3d elements. If you really want them in 3D, they need to be planes and baybe you want to add some in-place glass plane families to represent a 3D grid ... of couuse if you really want to mess it up, you could add some glass planes at the floor lines to represent your levels. But, for what good it is, if you want to see then flat on one of the levels.... like 1st floor, export your grids to CAD and re-import them.... they will the be 3d lines on a flat plane and that will export to dwf.

So you mean to export the revit file that already has the grid lines in it to another dwg file, and that open up that dwg file in AutoCAD and then import/link this dwg file back to the revit file?? I've tried that and it didn't seem to work. Also another thing, inside the dwf file, when I tried the View > Cross Section, it's very cool to generate those sections instantly. But my question is how do you switch back to show the entire thing of the dwf file after generating these cross sections? Thanks in advance.

You must be doing something wrong. Attached is a 3D image showing part of a building and a 2D site plan inserted at 2 different levels. Works the same for a plan that just has a column grid.

I must apologize ... I knew that the 2d worked in 3D revit. I did not realized it would not work in 3D dwf.
