I am working in Revit Archtitecture 2009. I am unable to rotate an object in elevtaion. I am trying to use a family as a brace but it will not rotate in elevation or section. How do you get something to rotate? Also I have not been able to add an angle parameter to the famiyl to adjust the angle of the brace eihter. How is any of this done, please help. Thank you,

Depend the object/family how it created, there are some obj./families they are attached to floor, ceiling, walls, whatever, and don't allowd the "rotation just like that", the best way is in fact create a ref. line and a parameter with angle in the family to control that, if you can't do that there is something wrong with that family.....

Tried making a parameter for the angle but the ref plane is the item that rotates in relation to my extrusion when the angle changes and not the extrusion. I need to get the extrusion to rotate. I am attaching the family i created. It is a generic based family.

To just rotate it in elevation you may just need to edit the component and unlock it to rotate it. With regard to a parameter, use a reference line rather than a reference plane. Attach your component to the reference line and give the line an angle parameter.

I made the ref line and added an angular paramer to it. This works, i can get the line to adjust its angle by opening the family editor and changing the value of the angle. Once i attach my extrusion to the line by moving and locking or aligning and locking the extrusion ot the ref. line, i get an error message about not meeting the constraints.

You need to align and lock it in edit mode - I have created one for you with parameters for length, depth and height. You will need to change the units to imperial and set in material parameters if required.
