I am new to Revit (Architecture 2009) I would like to know if there is a way to copy and paste a piece of a building (includeing all levels and roof) from one point in an existing project, and paste it into a new diferent existing project and also have it in the right levels. I tried coping the portion from a 3d view but when I past it into a diferent project everything has been shifted up a level, so now my basement level is the main floor level. Hope this make since what I am asking. Thanks for your help.

....oh and when you do paste something can you past it to a certain point. Kind of like the copy from reference point such as 0,0 in Auto Cad. Thanks.Jared.

You can copy complete buildings from project to project but ... Floor level names must be the same and I think distances floor to floor as well. When you paste items, you are given a chance to move/mirror/rotate all of the pasted items relative to the view/views you have open.... just don't accept the paste until you have them positioned correctly.

okay thanks. Now I have gone in and the only way I can copy the whole section of building all in one copy is to do it from the 3d view, but when I paste it places the basement and the main floor level and the main floor at the upper floor level. Is there a way to force those levels (the whole building) down in level so the level drawn is the level called out. Hope that makes since. Is there a better way to copy the whole portion (all levels) in one command instead of copying each level seperately. Thanks.

Yes you can do as you are asking, all you have to do is select the object and copy it to your clipboard for the time being....i.e. CTL + V. Then you can go to the next project and past from your clipboard....i.e. CTL +V. You should then get the perimeter of the object drawn with dotted lines. You can click where you want to insert and it should. Make sure you're not editing any families in either project. And make sure to be in regular 3D view in both as well. Good luck!
