Hello. I have 2x4 and 2x2 light fixtures, and some of them-with emergency ballast, so, it needs to be shown on plan differently (half solid or half hatched). The problem is, that all fixtures are types of 1 family, so the hatch should be parametric for 2x2 and 2x4.

Can anybody help me whith this?

By the way, this Light Fixture family is from original Revit MEP 2009 Imperial library-Recessed Parabolic Light.

Thank you

I believe I just aligned the edges of the solid hatch to the lines of the light and locked them.  That way when the lines were resized for the different sized lights, it moved with it.  I then also created an on/off parameter for "Emergency Light" and set the visiblity of the solid to on with "Emergency Light" checked.

Thank you very much! It works great, and I've learn from you some more stuff in Revit! I used your emergency annotation and added it to my light fixture.

I am new in Revit, only 3 month, trying to learn as fast as possible.

Thank you again!

I forgot to look at the 3d portion of that to make sure it wasn't broke.  You can use it in whatever light you want I suppose.

I used this method in making my GFCI receptacles too.  We fill in the middle portion of the receptacle symbol with solid black.  This eliminates everyones problem with the text doing unpresentable stuff.  Same deal, just a check box on any type of receptacles for gfci.  All my different receptacles are in one family too.  They are all generic annotations except items I do not want to resize with the scale of the view.

Title block stamps also seem like good candidates for on/off parameters.

I'm still learning too.

Very good idea with GFCI. We also using symbol (probably the same as you) instead of label. I already did it per your method, thank you.

I see, you are with Revit since 2005. So, you are an expertSmile

My I ask a couple of questions?

How you consider Motor rated switch for mech, equipment? Who gets the load, equipment or switch? I did it without loads, simililar to light switch, is it right or not?

Did you do Fire Alarm projects in Revit?

Been using it, but not necessarily effectively or as a serious means of generating electrical drawings for our company.

So far all of my mechanical equipment is a modifed receptacle box that has my equipment connection symbol associated with it.  I have not put loads on any switches yet and don't see why you would.  Maybe a "pilot light" type switch but otherwise it just shuts the load on and off.

We've done some fire device placement and given them a small loads, but thats about the extent of it.  Again, all my symbols are done with Generic Annotations so they are basically the same as a receptacle.  In fact, mine are still probably receptacle boxes in 3d view.  Some day we may have to expand on this a bit, but for now it gets the design done.

How would you set the visiblity of the "Emergency Light" Solid to show up in all views?

I am trying to recreate the same parameter for a round recessed downlight, and when i switch from 8" to 6" the filled region does not.  Any ideas?

How about the quatity take off/scheduling for the emergency and the normal lightings, is the lighting with solid hatch will count separately?

"How or where can I find information that will show me how to make the solid (or any other) hatch for my lighting symbols? I will also need to make symbols with on/off parameters for receptacles. I'm just starting out and I've gone through all the tutorials but can't zero in on what I need. Thanks.
