I am trying to do a building section and use the vis/grap settings. On my plan I have the walls shaded in the coarse scale fill pattern of that wall. Now I go to the vis/graphics page of the building section and click on walls. there is 3 settings under walls and none of these turn off the shaded area. I must be in the wrong place. I wanted to show the base plate, the gyp and siding of the wall in section, but the entire wall shaded in plan.
Need some help.... Thanks

If I understand you, you will need to change the cut section property of that wall.
i.e if you are using concrete wall, click on the wall go to properties, click edit new, click the arrow on your wall material and change the cut property to solid fill.
(not in revit atm, but pretty sure that the place )

I figured it out. I actually did it the way you said in the begining. I just had to be in my section view properites and change the detail level to fine.
Thanks

Fine or medium detail level will show the details of the layers of the wall in plan.
If you look at any wall you'll notice it has a parameter for coarse scale fill. This is what you would've been seeing.
You may wish to adjust your template settings to have the appropraite detail levels apply to the appropriate scale views in your settings.
