It seems that plans with muliple hip and valley roofs almost always play up. I'm not talking about simple rectangular plans etc, but those that have external walls that have many setbacks etc. Revit will usually play up with attached garage roofs and the like, which may be set further forward than the main house / building. Instead of having a ridge connect the garage roof to the main roof, Revit draws a valley between the two !!. So far I have managed to find work arounds by drawing separate roof sections or by using the slope tool etc etc etc. Having used both ADT and Archicad, I have found that Revit is the WORST of the three for drawing simple hip and valley roofs. Most of the other features in Revit are superior to the other two except for this. The crap that it comes up with sometimes makes you laugh and cry. I've seen gable ends that form upside down, with the ridge inside the house!!! which I have posted in the technical issues section somewhere, and other such oddities to make the mind boggle.
You Revit programmers have to stop smokin' da gunja, seriously !!!!
Two wishes :
1. Fix Roofs.
2. Revit 9 to be 64 bit (if this will speed things up - I'm running dual Opteron 246's with 2
gig of ram, and it's still slow (but still faster than Xeons!!))
Here's a PDF with Revit's crap attempt as page one, and the way it should look as page two.
