We are relatively new to Revit and have found the weld symbols way too large. We have tried to create our own but have more bugs than success. Since I believe we cannot be the only ones with this challenge, does anyone know of a weld family that can replace the out of the box version?

These are symbols and as such, they stay the same "paper space" size no matter what the view scale.

Edit the family and scale it down to what you want. That includes the size of the labels inside the family.  You do that through the properties of the label.

We have created our own family with smaller symbols. The problem is that when inserted, the dual leaders, the all around symbol, and the field weld symbols do not land at the end of the horizontal weld line. We are obviously doing something wrong. I guess we continue to experiment. We think changing the length of the horizontal line might the culprit that screws up the points where everything is supposed to land.

I had the same problem here, but our BIM manager fixed it fr use.

You will have to draw and invisible line parallel to, and on each end (left/right) of the horizontal line.  It will be a small line, probably 5/32" or smaller.  You'll have to play around with it a bit.  Our firm has spent too many hours to get this symbol right.  But, it works now and is so much cleaner than the out-of-the-box family.

Thanks emgeeo. We have been able to get everything to our liking except changing the size of the all around symbol. When we change the size it seems to cause the lines coming to the center to go nuts. We will keep pluggin.
