Can anyone enlighten me on how to get varying material thickness within a one storey portion of wall, for example brick bottom 3 ft, concrete coping and wood siding above with the materials NOT aligning (stuck) to the outside face of the brick? I have tried duplicating an existing wall type but the finishes always stick to the outside face of the brick. I am very new to revit so it might be something comletely obvious to everyone else. Thanks, Andrew

I'm not quite sure about what really do you need but, Create a Profile Family with the shape and height you want (3 ft), then load to project and use "Modeling>Host Sweep>Wall Sweep", go to properties and change the profile you just create, give the material you want then apply to wall whatever you want...

No to Typhoon suggestion ... just use a stacked wall set up like you want. There should be one you can modify in your model.

so either i create two different walls on top of one another or i use one of the preloaded wall famillies, duplicate and edit it. I understand the basics of editing the wall, but I can't get the face in the section preview to be in or out from the portion above or below it, the only thing that seems to do that is the reveals and sweeps. Do I have to use them for the entire portion of exterior wall finish that i want set back? It is a pretty standard detail so I fail to see why Revit wouldn't have one already loaded and all you have to do is change the finishes and heights to what you want. This is where i start to loose my faith in revit as a better program, but I know I am just frustrated!

HHeyyy...calm down apayne!!!!...All is posible in Revit but with a little bit of patience. I can't still understand what exactly do you need but I'm trying to read your mind. I don't know if you want something like the image attached (i tried to exaggerate the materials), but it'd be better if you upload a kind of picture or draw of the wall you want in order to help you.

Stacked walls allow you to create a single wall entity composed of different wall typesstacked vertically on top of each other. The wall types used in a stacked wall need to be typesalready defined in your project.Create the individual wall types u want to use in stacked wall, then select the wall tool go to its type properties , choose Stacked wall from family dropdown-menu and duplicate existent type and edit the structure parameter…the resulting dialog looks like the ordinary wall edit assembly, but here u don't add/remove layers..instead u deal with walls stacked over each other if u noted .u can create whatever composed walls u wish specially the offset problem u're facin..Just trying to explain what Hub &Erland told u .
