Is there a consensus on how the standard Revit interface is viewed?  The default white background with black lines is a dramatic change for me, being used to black background with colored layers.  From what I've gathered, it seems like everyone is using this binary B/W view.  Has the Layer concept been abandoned?  I think it would be helpful to have a "Concrete" linetype which shows up as a different color than say "Wide Line".

Also, how do you change settings such that colors do not plot as half-tone?

most people seem to use a white background in Revit as oppose to the black that most people use in Autocad. Yes, the layer concept for the most part has been abandoned since Revit does not use layers. you can assign things to display in color if you like and set you background to black also. i don't know why, but i also like Revit with a B/W view but cannot stand it with Autocad. go figure?

I agree with coreed. I have used a black background and colors with autocad since 1996 but It drives me crazy to use it in Revit. I use the default black and white in Revit.

I noticed that if you have the black background displayed in Revit, the 3D model starts to look funny.  The shadows just run off to nothing.

An easier coloring system might be handy though...

Thanks for the responses.  I think I'm going to tough it out and stick with the black and white for now.  One reason for the inquiry into colors is that I think it would ease the transition for long time AutoCAD users.

Black and white is awesome- just pop a couple of tylenol each day for the first week and set your contrast to zero.
