new to revit (2009)

I'm trying to load some existing profiles from the imperial library to be used as wall sweeps.

 This isnt working--

what limits the use of a profile family?

Creating a wall sweep is a two step process.

You need to load the profile.  Then in the project duplicate one of the existing wall sweeps, select the new profile and name it appropriately...

HTH.

Sorry but that attitude isn't going to help you either... You could be helpful and advise what part makes no sense to you?

Go to the help file and lookup wall sweeps, there are step by step instructions with screenshots that explain the process in more detail.  But essentially you are just missing the second step...

As a profile can be applied to multiple tools, you need to tell Revit that you want it to use a particular profile for a "WALL SWEEP".  You do this by going to your Modelling Tab, Hosted Profiles, Wall Sweep, then click on properties next to your type selector pull down in the top left.  Then click duplicate, select the desired profile and give the wall sweep profile an appropriate name.  Then simply click somewhere to apply the wall sweep to...

Let me know if you still have difficulties.
