Hello all. I am a relative newbie to Revit although I am a big fan. We are attempting to migrate to Revit 2009 from AutoCAD Arch Desktop 2008 and I am working on setting up templates and such. One of my problems is arising as I try to create a North arrow for our Sheets that can be rotated to match North. It is similar to the simple North arrow uploaded here but has "north" in lower case letters just below the arrow. Is there a way to make the arrow rotate while keeping the text upright? Thanks in advance for the help, Mike

Thanks WWHub I will look into that. I appreciate the help. Typhoon, thanks for your assist as well but I think you misunderstood my question. I am looking for a north arrow family that I can orient at different angles on my sheets depending on which direction is north for my plan, not at how to rotate the plan and create true north with the building plan.

Process is: - Create the symbol of what you want the north pointer to look like. Draw is so it is centred on the two reference planes with North pointed vertical. Save and close.
- Create a new symbol and nest this north pointer into this family placing it centred on the two reference planes.
- Rotate it clockwise about 30 degrees.
- Add a dimension from the vertical reference plane to the 30 Degree North Pointer. And add an angle parameter.
- If you like load it into your titleblock and link the North Pointer angle to a new parameter in the titleblock. I use a type parameter because generally the north direction is the same on most of my sheets.
Done. HTH.
