After a little experience with exporting my Revit models I havn't decided which is better to import into 3DS Max, FBX or DWG. I can see why FBX would be benificial in that many of the settings you apply in Revit open in Max as well, including materials, lighting data, geographic data and more. But suppose I'm just trying to pump out a large rendering that best describes my project. In order to create such a large image I have to use 3DS Max, Revit cannot handle the size nor was it ever meant to. SO, I've found FBX files brought into Max create huge files. Materials can be added again as well as anything else lost from importing the DWG. I wouldn't mind applying this lost data into Max if rendering time is reduced. Here's my main question: Is there a best practice to import a Revit model into 3DS Max in order to reduce rendering time?
