I have been using revitized sketchup people in non photo rendered 3D views as the graphic style goes with the revit 'shading with edges' style. This is fine except they lose their face me properties so I wind up with loads of copies facing in different directions and have to hide the ones facing the wrong way. Is there a better way to do this? I try to avoid photo rendering in sketch projects so need 'shading with edges' people...

since revit dosen't maintain the face-me properties of sketchup entourage, which i also use, there is no way to avoid your problem that i know of. Face-me is one for the wishlist. maybe someone else has some info?
