I started a new project using an old one as template. Now, there are many imported cad files that doesn't display in any view but are listed under Imported Categories in View Properties. I need delete them, but I can't do it directly, selecting in the view. Is it possible to do it in other way? I tried to import a new cad file and select all instances and didn't work. There are no other hidden levels where the cad files can be...Someone could help me?

I really get upset when I see these in our files because they are really hard to find. I am trying to teach our other users to always choose "this view only" if they have to import. You may be able to find these in a 3D view - za then use a crossing selection. Also look at any standard details.

you can also use the PURGE command under file. this will allow you to choose what you want to get purged and you should be able to find the files in that menu...BE CAREFUL you dont leave anything checked but the things you want gone. good luck.

Hi guys, my search brought me here
It's amazing how Revit has managed to keep this limitation in managing old imported objects around for years!
Took me a while to find the answer but finally got it from this thread on the very same subject.
Now the question is does anyone know how to do the same without resorting to DWG Explorer? The plugin works great, I just prefer doing the same in Revit itself...

Hi Alan Smith
Revit can also do with a macro that calls the API! So if you are really interested you can do that.

Why import DWGs? Isn't easy to just link and remove those links?
