Is it possible to place just the spot elevation symbol a Revit drawing? I've got a section thru my roof, and in the section I want to call out the bar joist bearing elevation. The problem is, the joists are bearing on a 4x4x3/8 angle, and that angle is sloping for roof drainage. So when I place a spot elevation, it shows up with some crazy number, like 22'-8 43/256". I don't really want the actually elevation, I just want to place the symbol, and then have it say 'varies'. Just to show that the angle is sloping. Is there a way to do that, just for show? Thanks in advance

I don't understand questions like this. If you don't want a smart tag then why do you expect a smart tag to work????? Make a "DUMB" elevation tag and fill in what ever you want it to say .... seems like that would be the smart thing to do!

That's a great response. Now if you're such a genious, and know how to do that, then by all means do explain. If I knew how to make a 'dumb' tag, I'd do it. But I don't, that's why I'm asking the question smart guy.

I guess I was thinking Revit probably had the elevation marker already drawn, and it could be loaded blank. But I'm finding that's not the case. I wish Revit was 'smart' enough to allow more user control.

Sorry about all the dupilcates, I don't know why it's doing that. Typhoon, I think that is what I want to do. I don't have time for that right now, but sometime I'll make my own tag. For the time being I'll probably end up using LINES & TEXT, like boy genious suggested.

Hi, i think this is what do you need but WWHub don't have the blame, there are so many questions and sometimes we don't have (we loose) patience for the basic questions and ALSO I THINK you must use the HELP menu from Revit for this "simple" questions, also check the tutorials before, bye...

I did spend a little time looking for the solution on my own, Tyhoon. But time is money, and it's faster for me to post the question here, and then move on to something else. These user forums are by far the fastest and best way to get questions answered, so I tend to turn here first. Thanks

Listen .... you say your time is valuable ... well our time is valuable too! Why don't you at least LOOK at what is available rather than asking. Spend just alittle of that valuable time of yours !!!! Look in the downloads area - the families are there and have been there for a long time! DON'T BE SO LAZY!

allstardrafter After a simple search i found a couple of tags that may help you. In response to time is money. You can send my payment to a local charity of your choice. Happy Thanksgiving! http://revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=search&keywords=elevation%20tag John

all star drafter, you don't come across as an all star form this post. maybe no star drafer would be more approbriate. sorry for taking the piss its just that your qestion is the typical question that makes normally helpfull members of this forum not want to help people. your question can be answered so easaly be searching the revit help file. if your time is really that valuable employ a Revit expert in your company to solve issues like the one you had.

You know, I never realized that there were so many people that were apparantly born with 'all star' revit skills. I didn't realize that none of you ever asked a question when you were learning. But don't worry, with the tremendous help you all have provided I'm sure I'll be a Revit expert myself in no time. Let me see if I've got it. Okay, new user you've got a simple question, instead of anwsering your simple question with a quick and helpful response, I'm going to take my expert status, and run you down about your question. While at the same time I'm not going to answer it, even though I am going to profess my ultimate status as a Revit 'expert'. I'm sorry you all think I'm lazy, but I'll tell you this may seem like a simple question to you guys, and maybe you think I should have figured it out. But this isn't the only question i've had, and most of the other 20 or so questions, I have figured out on my own, but after a while I, like you guys, get tired of always searching for the answers. I figured a quick post here could garner a quick response, with an answer. Unfortunately that's not exactly what I got.
