I'm bringing an old thread back to life here. I'm having this same problem and can't figure out what I'm missing...something simple I'm sure. Can anyone tell me how to get the tread surface pattern (brick in my case) to show up in floor plan? Thanks in advance.

Override graphics in view might be one way to cheat the pattern into displaying, but you won't be able to use the actual model pattern, only a draft pattern. Then the problem is that the hatch is no longer representive of an actual tile pattern since it cannot be adjusted, rotated, or sized appropriately. There should be a way to get the model pattern to display in the plan just like with floor slabs and walls, etc.

I had similar issues, setting the grate pattern in materials is useful, but I couldn't get it to show up in a 3D View. It wouldn't work on floors or landings, but would on stairs. Kinda messed up. But if I made a generic model with the grate material it would work.

I've got a stair that I drew using boundry lines as well as risers, I assigned a material early on in the project and now I need to change the material. I selected the stair and changed the material of all the nessesary components, in plan it appears correct but in any 3d view i notice that the tread has not changed. If I draw a stair by run it assigns the correct materials but not if I draw a custom stair. All other stairs in the project appear correctly. Suggestions?
