Yeah I heard about it a while ago. I got an email from one of the resellers here in Aus.

Basically, you pay a weekly rent for the software, locked in for 24-36 months (cant remember exact time) and it included one full update to the software. I didnt do it for my personal use since I had a 'home use' policy with my old workplace, and it ended up costing you 2k more or something in the long run.

wish i had though, i left that job and lost the home use license included. Plus, I could have used it as a tax deduction too.....last I heard, they dont plan on doing the promotion again :\

not by autodesk, but by one of their resellers. Here in Aus at least.

Interesting, we have none of these deals in europe.

I think Autodesk should sell licenses to the buildingowners or builders instead. Then it could be free for architect to use revit both in cometitions and in real projects. As soon as the project is "for real" the builder provides their licenses to the architects.

What do you think about this?

Best regards

Has anybody heard of a Hosted solution in the cloud.  We have projects where teams work from coast to coast and around the globe and having it in the cloud would be our idea solution.  We have tried a remote desktop, but were not real happy with that setup.

The rumor is true. I wrote a blog post about it today at http://revitlearningclub.blogspot.com/2013/12/renting-revit-software.html

Looks like the lowest prices to get full Revit are for the Standard Building Design Suite at:

Monthly $360, quarterly $1085, annually $2890

Confirmed.  They announced it again this year at AU2013 during one of the keynotes.  Works for me.

We just sent the inquiry to the local reseller here in the Philippines regarding rent and the outcome was everything else than satisfactory.....

Literally it only makes sense when you need the license over a exact time period of 4 months, everything longer is not economical anymore.

I wish they would be a bit more flexible with this "software for rent" issue. Project peaks require flexible usage of the software but as it looks Autodesk doesn't respond to this need.

cheers

Wolfgang
