hi, i am trpying to make a curtain wall that has a particular profile of mullion. i created a double rectangular profile mullion in curtain wall mullion profile family. then i duplicated the mullion type and selected my created profile. but since it had two loops Revit gave me an eror saying that only single loop profiles can be used . so what should i do. how can i use a custom profile in a curtain wall.

Hi 3D, i just respond your email, you must have a close "Polyline" in your profile...

yes thyphoon i got it. i think it is better to put a detail component inside the single loop prfile as is done in another profile provided by revit package. thank you.

Hi. This forum is really informative specially for us newbies and beyond... I'm thinking to start making a curtain wall wherein in each aluminum mullion profile are detailed parts.
I would be grateful to hear some advise/suggestion how shall I start. Shall I make a "mullion sectional detail" family first? If so, how?

We prefer to keep our mullions as simple rectangles for the model. This works well for all plan, section and elevation views. Then in detail views, we turn off the mullion and add a detail component.
If you make an elaborate mullion profile, you will possibly overload the model and really slow down your work.

Thanks for the speedy response WWHub. Now I understand what you mean by not elaborating the mullion.
But since I really need to make detailed mullion sections, could you kindly explain to me more about how do I go to detailed views? "...Then in detail views, we turn off the mullion and add a detail component..."
The problem is that I haven't done this before...
Thanks!
